About Podshavers Restaurant
The name Pod Shaver came from the adjacent barn that used to house a cricket bat manufacturer. A Pod Shaver is a craftsman skilled at carving cricket bats in a traditional manner. Cricket in general has formed the back bone of the barn’s history.
Situated perfectly in the foothills of the Quantocks, Podshavers Restaurant is the ideal location for that special occasion. The barn itself has had many uses over the years, traditionally it was a cattle milking barn and still boasts many original features that is still evident today in the newly opened and converted, ‘Second Eleven Barn‘. In more modern history it’s been the home ground and the cricket club house for the Flying Geese Cricket Club. Since those early days, one of the barn’s was converted into a successful restaurant.
The Second Eleven Outdoor Area
It is on its way; the Cow is in residence! The Second Eleven Outdoor area is open for business.
You have had a romantic weekend in Paris and been to the Louvre and seen the Mona Lisa, now come to the Cow Shed and see our own Mooa-Lisa by Nick, you will be astounded!
We have completely refurbished the Cow Shed to become the dirt trackers, ‘Second Eleven Outdoor Area’. It is quirky, colourful; and definitely; different. You can drink and dine in a relaxing and informal manner, enjoying cheese and meat platters with accompanying fine wine (and beer). There is no other environment in Somerset to match the unique ‘Second Eleven’.
